Travlr: the geo-located photo sharing service from KLM

For a couple of years, companies from all sectors (understand not specifically from the digital area) tend to support their communication strategy with several social media tools. The easiest solution stays the classic combination Twitter-Facebook-Blogging.

However, a couple of firms try to stand out in providing a real social media experience. Example: airlines.
In 2010 Lufthansa has launched MySkyStatus, a live notification platform connected to Twitter and Facebook. MySkyStatus sends flight status' updates to social networks in order to keep contacts informed of the trip situation. A successful experience.
This week, it was KLM's turn.

Location based, travlr is (re)defining a world map using pictures posted by its users. More than a photo sharing service, travlr provides price and additional information for each destination...served by KLM. More meaningful than simple comments or rankings, the pictures give directly the best overview possible of a specific place. For sure a promising a concept: this can be the future of booking portals and frequent flyers communities...
